My husband and I were living in Germany before moving to the U.S., and all my medical reports were in German, so finding someone who actually understood everything was super important to me. Even while we were still in Germany we started looking for a place where I could have the kind of birth I wanted — natural, calm, without all the hospital stress. My husband made a bunch of calls and that’s how we found Khamissa. They told us she spoke German, French and English and had lived in Germany before, so right away I felt so much more relaxed about everything. When we met her the first time, both of us just knew she was the right person. She gave such a good impression from day one — honest, kind, calm and super knowledgable, but also warm and real. Through my whole pregnancy she always took her time, explained things in a way I could really understand, and gave me honest advice when I wasn’t sure about something. When it was time to give birth she came just a few hours after my labor started and stayed with me the whole time. She was calm, patient and really suportive, and she encouraged me through every contraction and made me feel safe and not alone. The whole experience went smoother than I expected and I’m honestly so thankful for her. She’s respectful, professional and very thoughtful, and I really recomend her to anyone looking for a great midwife, especially if you’re new in the U.S. or coming from another country like we did. She understands a lot, communicates easily, and actually cares about you and your baby. If I ever have another baby one day, I would definitely want her again.
